A couple in Shapingba District, Chongqing, found that their 50,000 yuan deposit in the bank was missing so they reported the matter to the police. After an investigation, police found out that the money was transferred to a wealth management app by their 12-year-old son.
What is more interesting is that, the kid didn't lose even a single cent from the 50,000 yuan he put in the app, amazingly, he earned some money from the investment.
According to the police report, about a year ago, Ms. Yuan deposited 50,000 yuan in a bank, throughout the year, she never checked or withdrew the money. During the National holiday, she decided to withdraw the money, so she went to the bank to withdraw, at the bank she was met with a surprise--Not only that she didn't make any interest out of the deposit for the whole year, but the principal amount 50,000 she deposited was also missing.
"The bank card has been on me all the time, and so is my ID card. I must have never lost it. How could someone take it away?"
Ms. yuan also told the police that only the husband and wife knew the bank card's password.

Yang Jie, the police officer who was handling the case, helped the parents to check with the bank on how the money was lost. He found that the money was transfered to a legitimate wealth management account through an app.
Yang Jie says, when he mentioned wealth management app, he saw the 12-year-old son getting nervous and he concluded that it had something to do with the child. He then asked to check Ms. Yuan's phone and found that the wealth management app is installed on her phone. In the app's account, 50,000 yuan was there and in addition there was a reported profit gained from the money invested, albeit, just a two figure amount.
At this point, Taotao(pseudonym) admitted that back in September, in order to "earn" some pocket money, he used his mother's mobile phone to download an app and linked it with her mother's bank card. Then he used his mother's ID card to verify ownership. It was easy for him to guess the bank card's payment password because it is the same as the one his mother uses on Wechat wallet.
After knowing the truth, the family was relieved and the police helped them to transfer the money from the financial management account back to the original bank card.
Some netizens were perplexed by the "savviness" of this kid, saying "why he have made money while I always lose," another said "Just at this age he has already learned how to borrow a hen to make eggs, when he grow up he will be great."
Although the parents "made" some money this time, the police warned them that minors are curious about mobile phones and Internet, but they lack awareness as far as consumption is concerned. As parents, they should be reasonable, strengthen communication, manage their own mobile phones, and guide their children to establish a good concept of consumption
I see potential in this kid, what do you think? Let us know in the comment section.
